Tools, materials, finished work, and useful mistakes

My Makerspace

This is the equipment I use to make the projects shown here. I want visitors to know what did the work, what I recommend, and what I learned—not just see a finished photograph with the process erased.

Widget and Byte welcome visitors to my Makerspace in a purple cosmic workshop poster, with the original orange and blue Makerspace lettering.
Widget & Byte welcome you to my Makerspace. This is the full original Makerspace composition; it now lives with the tools, materials, recommendations, and projects it was made to introduce.

My working Makerspace. This is where I bring the printer, filament handling, drying equipment, tools, and work surface together to make the projects shown here.

Around the room

The work zones

Making rarely happens at a single machine. These are the connected stations where ideas move from a screen to paper, vinyl, filament, and finished objects.

My design, cutting, and printing workstation with a pale Cricut machine, an HP wide-format printer, monitors, a laptop, keyboard, tools, and a Widget and Byte Makerspace print on the wall.
Design, cut, and print. The Cricut Maker 4, HP printer, and computer station share one work surface so digital designs can move into paper, vinyl, HTV, and mixed-media projects.
My filament-handling station with two enclosed filament spools feeding a compact 3D printer and a multispool stand beside the machine.
Keep the material ready. Drying and feeding filament beside the printer is part of the process—not an afterthought—and has made printing more consistent across materials.

What does the work

Equipment I use

My own photographs ground this page in the real working space. Official product images fill the remaining equipment references until I can replace them with personal photos.

Bambu Lab A2L

The large-format workhorse. Bambu Lab officially introduced the A2L in June 2026 and documents compatibility with its second-generation AMS system.

Compact 3D printing

Bambu Lab A1 mini

A smaller printer for compact projects and an approachable path into reliable printing. I’ll eventually document which jobs I send to the mini instead of the larger machine.

Cricut Maker 4

The machine behind paper projects, vinyl, heat-transfer vinyl, labels, and projects that begin as a flat design and become a physical object.

I remember my machine as rose gold. Current Maker 4 material identifies Seashell and Sage, so this official Seashell image is temporary until I photograph the actual machine and confirm its color.

Filament drying

SUNLU AMS Lite Heater

I recommend this AMS Lite enclosure and heater for drying filament while printing. Keeping filament dry has made a meaningful difference in consistency and changed how I evaluate some materials.

The heater is an add-on; the Bambu Lab AMS Lite is not included.

Crochet toolkit

Yarniss all-in-one crochet kit & storage bag

This is the crochet bag and hook set I swear by. The supplied kit brings together a large organizer, 14 ergonomic hook sizes from 2.0–10.0 mm, colorful yarn, straight and cable needles, and the small tools that are easy to lose when they do not have a home.

I recommend it from my own use. Kit contents and available colors may vary by listing.

Filament notes & recommendations

These are personal experience notes, not universal lab results. Printer, profile, storage, humidity, color, and batch can all change the outcome.

Premium favorite

Bambu Lab PLA

Top-notch for reliability and how smoothly it works with the Bambu ecosystem. The tradeoff is price: it usually costs more than several competitors I also trust.

Value favorite

SUNLU

Typically less expensive than Bambu Lab filament and, in my experience, often works just as well. It is a practical recommendation when value matters.

Recommended

OVERTURE

A dependable filament brand in my regular recommendation set, including PLA and PETG options.

Recommended

Flashforge

Selected Flashforge filament has performed well enough to earn a place on the working recommendation list.

Dry it first

Creality

My early experience with Creality filament was poor because it picked up moisture and was difficult to keep dry. After I deliberately dried it, the results improved enough for me to reconsider it more favorably.

Confirmed budget pick

Insignia

Best Buy’s Insignia PLA and PETG are my budget-friendly recommendation: an accessible choice that has delivered good results without premium-brand pricing.

Best Buy filament listings

Silk PLA favorite

Semdon Silk PLA

I recommend Semdon when a PLA project calls for the glossy color and reflective finish of silk filament.

Strong composite option

ELEGOO PETG-CF

A strong carbon-fiber-filled PETG option for functional parts that benefit from added stiffness, toughness, and a subdued matte finish.

Fiber-filled filament is abrasive. ELEGOO recommends a hardened-steel nozzle of 0.4 mm or larger and dry storage or drying before use.

Smaller tools, real difference

Things I reach for

A good makerspace is not only major machines. Storage, pens, hooks, mats, blades, dryers, and other small choices shape the work.

3D-print repair tool

Crafty Pen 3D Printing Pen

My Crafty Pen is the LCD-control set sold with 40 strands of PLA filament. I use it as a hand-held plastic welder: I can add compatible filament along a break to fuse split 3D-printed parts back together instead of discarding the whole print.

UPC-A: 714497638881 · EAN-13: 0714497638881. I will add my material-specific heat settings and repair technique as I document them.

Document what comes in the bag, what stays organized, which hook sizes are useful, and why this particular set earns a recommendation.

Growing list

Consumables & supporting tools

Future notes can cover mats, blades, paper, vinyl, HTV, adhesives, storage, replacement parts, and the unglamorous supplies that prevent ruined projects.

Made, used, and displayed here

These photographs show the real tools I work with, the collections I live among, and the things I have actually made. As I document each project, I will add materials, machines or tools, dates, design credit, source links, and what I learned.

Product image note

The current equipment photographs are manufacturer- or retailer-hosted sourcing references, not a claim that Lore & Logic owns them.

Before public publication: I should replace the remaining product images with my own photographs where possible, or confirm appropriate permission or press-use terms. The source links and brand attribution need to stay. The setup photograph is mine; the Cricut Maker color and the supplied Amazon AMS listing identity remain qualified until I confirm them.
